Obituary for John Cornelius Sullivan

Franklin: John C. Sullivan, 84 died Tuesday May 15, 2018 at Forest Manor in Hope. Mr. Sullivan, son of the late Cornelius and Alice (Cruse) Sullivan was born in Inwood, NY January 20, 1934. He resided in Newton for many years, moving to Franklin in 2009.

Mr. Sullivan graduated from Power Memorial High School in Manhattan, NY, Class of 1951. He then entered the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War from 1952-1955. He was a member of Sgt. Francis M. Glynn American Legion Post #132 of Franklin.

Mr. Sullivan was co-owner, along with his late wife, of Echoes of Erin in Newton. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin. As a resident of Franklin House, he was involved with the activities and board games. He also coordinated the Flag Salute at Franklin House.

Mr. Sullivan was predeceased by his sweetheart, who he truly missed, Dorothy. His wife of 60 years died in 2016. He was also predeceased by his sister, MaryEllen O’Sullivan. A proud dad and grandfather, Mr. Sullivan is survived by his children, John C. Sullivan Jr. & his wife Debbie of Knightsdale, NC, Michael D. Sullivan & his wife Veronika of Fort Worth, TX, Patrick H. Sullivan & his wife Marijoy of Newport Richey, FL, Frances A. Gumpper & her husband Edward of Sarasota, FL and Mary E. Sullivan of Branchville, NJ; grandchildren, Kristyn Gumpper, Timothy Sullivan, Shawn Sullivan & his wife Megan, Megan Gumpper, Lauren (Brodhecker) Mangold & her husband Evan and Stephanie Sullivan; brother Neal Sullivan of New City, NY and Seamus his cat.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 19, 2018 at 9:15AM from F. John Ramsey Funeral Home One Main St. Franklin to Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin for a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Newton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
