Obituary for Catherine A. Danko

Hamburg, NJ: Catherine A. Danko, 87, passed away at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home
for Hospice, Fredon, NJ on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Catherine was born on
June 14, 1931 in Sheppton, PA to Michael and Catherine E. (nee Schutter)
Pizanis. Catherine moved to New Jersey with her family, living in Bloomfield,
Sparta and Ogdensburg before settling in Hamburg. She was a Hamburg
resident for 53 years where she was affectionately known to her friends as
"Kate".

Catherine graduated from East Union Township High School in Pennsylvania in
1949. She moved with her family to Hamburg, NJ in 1965. Catherine earned a
Licenced Practical Nurse certificate and worked for a time in home health
care. Catherine also worked for the Sussex County Board of Elections.
Along with her husband, they worked to pass the referendum to build Wallkill Valley Regional High School and helped in the formation of St Jude's R.C. Parish. However, she would tell you that her greatest work, which was her greatest joy, was raising her
five children, and that family "meant the world" to her. To her family, she was the perfect mother balancing love, understanding, responsibility, discipline, and respect. For many years, she enjoyed summer trips with her husband "Jack" to the coast of Maine where they would enjoy the fresh air, beautiful seascapes, and delicious seafood .

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Michael Pizanis,
Jr., and her beloved husband, John E. Danko.

Catherine is survived by her children, John M. Danko and his wife Gale of
Stillwater, Richard Danko and his wife Christie of Wantage, David Danko and
his wife Veronica of Sparrowbush, NY, Cathy Hosking and her husband Fred of
