SPARTA-- Helen L. Predmore
Helen L. Predmore passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family on October 20th, 2018.
Born in North Bergen, NJ, Helen was predeceased by her parents, Frank G. and Helen B. Lischke. Helen was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert (Griz) in 2013. Helen and Bob raised their family in Pompton Plains where she volunteered on the Pequannock Township First Aid Squad. They enjoyed their retirement in Ormond Beach, FL and Port Jervis, NY before moving to Sparta 8 years ago. Since the age of 2, Helen spent her summers at Lake Gerard in Stockholm. Starting at an early age, she was an avid outdoors woman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. In later years, as a Lake resident, she served on the board of The Lake Gerard Fish and Game Club. Helen was passionate about her family, faith, gardens and love of music. She was a classically trained Mezzo Soprano. In addition to singing semi-professionally, she actively participated in the church choirs of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Pompton Plains and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holly Hill, FL.
At age 50, Helen became a NJ Paramedic, an occupation that she loved. She was a current member of The Sparta Community Emergency Response Team. Prior to her career in paramedicine, Helen worked as a computer operator.
Helen was a devoted mother to Robert Predmore, Helen Predmore, Mari Catania (Barry Walsh), Dorothie Colosimo (Joseph) and cherished grandmother to Sara and Sgt. Joseph Colosimo, Robert and Matthew Predmore and Richard and Jennifer Colosimo. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
She was easily recognized and remembered for her long blonde braid. When recently asked what she thought Heaven was like, Helen said "Heaven is a big open meadow with a stream running through it with no bugs. Okay. Only nice bugs." She kept her sense of humor until the end.
There will be a private cremation with a celebration of a life well lived to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Helen had asked that donations be made to her church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, located at 3320 Rte. 94 Hamburg, NJ 07419.
