Richmond Hill, NY: Mary Anna Carmela Savarese(nee DeYoreo), 95 years old, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 3, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born to Salvatore and Victoria DeYoreo in Riccia, Italy, she grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY and then Hackensack, NJ. She has lived in Richmond Hill, Queens, NY since 1944.

Mary was the first woman in her area to continue to higher education. She attended The Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing in Teaneck, NJ and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1944. She married Arthur Savarese, a decorated NYC Forensic Detective, in 1947 and raised a family in Richmond Hill, Queens, NY and also maintained a home since 1967 at Lake Mohawk in Sparta, NJ. Mary had been an active member within her church and was frequently involved in charitable works. She was a very kind and giving and loving person and always willing to help others. She will be missed by many.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Savarese(2008) and is survived by her loving family, her children, Marianne, Elizabeth, Arthur, Celeste and Gerard Savarese and five grandchildren, Gene, Nick, Natalie, Jeremy and Justin.

The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 9 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Kateri RC Church, 427 Stanhope Road, Sparta, NJ at 10:30 AM. Entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Paterson, NJ. Memorial gifts to a favorite charity in her name would be appreciated.
