Obituary for John G Scott

Franklin; John G. Scott, 75, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018. John was born on January 23, 1943 in Franklin to the late Frederick John and Margaret (nee Dunning) Scott. John was a lifelong and beloved resident of Franklin, NJ.

John began his career teaching in Christian schools, and then worked for the U.S. Post Office in Hamburg, eventually retiring in 2011. John was a dedicated and contributing member of the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, serving as a Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School superintendent, among various other roles. His love for music was evident in his involvement with various musical groups, most notably the Franklin Community Band. John was also an active member of the Sussex County Railroad Club, a lead organizer for the Salvation Army and an ardent local baseball fan.

John was predeceased by his parents. John is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (nee Dowden) Scott; his children, Mark Scott and wife Eirini of Robbinsville, NJ, Sarah Bovee and husband Peter of Mendham and Ian Scott of Franklin; his two grandchildren, Juliana Scott and Peter Bovee; his three brothers, William Scott and wife Marie of Franklin, Richard Scott and David Scott, both of Franklin, and his sister, Margaret Mueller and husband John of Toronto, Canada.

Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, November 24th at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, located at 1 Main Street in Franklin, NJ from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM. A memorial service will then be held at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, located nearby at 11 Main Street in Franklin, NJ. Cremation services are private.
