Obituary for Cyrus Ettinger

Wantage Twp., NJ: Cyrus Ettinger, 92 years old, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Daughters of Miriam Center, Clifton, NJ. Born to William and Rae Ettinger in New York, NY, he lived in Bloomfield, NJ before moving to Wantage Twp., NJ in 1950.

Cyrus served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and then opened Ettinger’s Pharmacy and Medical Supply in Sussex, NJ which he owned and operated with his wife, Shirley for many years selling the store in 1972. He then became the Chief Pharmacist for Alexander Linn Hospital in Sussex, NJ from 1973-1984 and then opened the Rite Aid Pharmacy in Sussex in 1985 and worked there until retiring in 1991. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with F. & A.M. Samaritan Lodge # 98, Hardyston Twp., NJ, member of the Sussex Elks Lodge # 2288, the Pvt. Charles Auberger American Legion Post # 213, Wantage Twp., NJ, Co-Founder of the Sussex County Arts Council and authored and published many articles on country living and being a rural pharmacist.

Cyrus is predeceased by his wife, Shirley Ettinger(2016) and is the devoted father of Linda Lieberman of White Plains, NY, Patricia Tasiopoulos of Newton, NJ and Randall Ettinger of Wantage Twp., NJ. Cherished by 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. Funeral arrangements by Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, NJ.
