Arthur S. Grenell, 90, passed away on November 13, 2018 in Newton. Born to Arthur F. and Grace Grenell on March 30, 1928 in Chicago, he was raised in Montclair. He earned engineering degrees at the University of Michigan and Newark College of Engineering. Art proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as an officer on the USS Lake Champlain and USS Wisconsin. A resident of Bloomfield for many years, he worked at Singer-Kearfott in Wayne as an aerospace engineer.
Art was a true gentleman who was involved in many church and community activities. He served as an ordained Elder at Watchung Presbyterian Church for many years. Art enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and gardening, as well as traveling. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, who will miss him dearly.
Art was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn. He is survived by their children, Thomas of Emporia, VA, Nancy and her husband James of Wantage, and James and his wife Brigitte of West Chester, PA, as well as grandchildren Matthew, Tyler and Sarah Grenell and Joseph Barta.
A private burial service was held on November 17 at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc. of Sussex, NJ. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Friends wishing to honor Arthur with a memorial donation are asked to consider giving to Watchung Presbyterian Church, 355 Watchung Ave., Bloomfield, NJ 07003, or to VFW Foundation, 406 W. 34th St., Kansas City, MO 64111.
