Obituary for Ruth Marie Torppey

Ruth Marie (Green) Torppey, 84, went Home to be with our Lord on December 18, 2018.
She was a resident at Forest Manor Health Care Center in Hope, NJ. Prior to that, she lived with her son, Wade, and family in Wantage, NJ for 3 years and with her daughter, Bliss Trunfio, and family in Boonton Twp., NJ for 11 years.

Born in Darby, PA, May 11, 1934, the third of eight children, she was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2016; her parents, Rev. William and Mildred (Wiggins) Green Sr.; brothers, Rev. William Green Jr. and Hubert Green, and sister, Kathryn Wistuk.

She graduated in 1951 from Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ, and attended Providence Bible Institute in Rhode Island.
She married her “darling Jack” in 1953 and they shared 63 years together.
After raising her children she was employed as a caregiver. In her spare time she enjoyed making jam- countless jars were delivered in care packages throughout her lifetime. She attended the Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church in Boonton Twp.

Cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by her 8 children,
Jackellyn McManus and husband, Edward, of Dingmans Ferry, PA; Lance and wife, Joni, of Stillwater, NJ; Robin Orcutt and husband, Walter, of Blairstown, NJ; Bret, of Lyndhurst, NJ; Scott and wife, Sherry, of Wheaton, IL; Wade and wife, Michelle, of Wantage, NJ; Shawn and wife, Leesha, of Hardwick, NJ; Bliss Trunfio and husband, Joseph, of Naples, FL; 42 grandchildren, and 15 great-greanchildren.
She is also survived by sisters, Grayce Green, Suzanne Leonard, and Mildred Lowes; and brother, Richard Green.

She will be remembered for being a prayerful mother who held her family together by sowing seeds of prayer into the lives of her children.

A visitation for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, December 26th, 2018 from 3-7PM at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, NJ 07461. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27th, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Sussex. Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
