Obituary for Harry W. Vance

Harry W. Vance, age 86 of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Glenwood to the late Harry Jr. and Margaret (Thornley) Vance, Harry was a lifelong resident. A hard worker with a passion for his farm, Harry owned and operated Pochuck Valley Farms with his wife, Barbara.

Harry was a former volunteer for the Vernon Fire Dept. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and shrimping, clamming, swimming, and making doughnuts. He loved spending the winters at his house in Edgewater, Fla., and was an avid Mets fan.

Predeceased by his brother Ralph Vance, Harry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara (Fritschie) Vance; sons Robert H. and his wife Gail of Dingmans Ferry, PA, and Russell A. and his wife Eileen Vance of Warwick, NY; daughters Diana L. Sartell and her husband Leon, and Michelle C. Williams and husband Bryan, all of Glenwood, NJ. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Eleanor Cacchio, also of Glenwood.

Visitation for Harry will be Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 from 4-8PM at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon, NJ 07462. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10th, 2019, 11AM at the funeral home. Burial in the Glenwood Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Foundation, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
