John W. Beatty, age 93 of McAfee, NJ passed away on Thursday, January 24th, 2019 at the Kindred Care Unit in Dover, NJ.
Born in Stockholm, NJ to the late John and Bessie May (Sisco) Beatty, John has been a lifelong Sussex County resident, previously living in Hardyston before settling in McAfee 30 years ago.
A proud veteran of World War II, John served in the US Army’s 8th Armored Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. John was the owner of Beatty Builders and was the former building inspector for Hardyston and Hamburg. He was an organizing member of the Hardyston Fire Department, and a founding member of the Construction Officials of Warren and Sussex Counties, or COWS, as he jokingly called it. He also enjoyed traveling and was a former member of the Republican County Committee.
Predeceased by his wife Edith May (Wilton) Beatty; son John W.; brother Wilbur C. Beatty; sister Mary Slack; and loving friend Jane South, John is survived by his daughter Patricia Furman; granddaughter Trisha Furman Leve and her husband Larry; great-grandchildren Larry, Emily and Jacob, all of McAfee; and sister Juanita Williams of Sussex, NJ.
Visitation for John will be held on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019 from 9AM to 12 Noon at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ 07416. A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
