Obituary for Virginia McNulty (James)

Highland Lakes, NJ: Virginia McNulty (nee James), 81 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by
her loving family on June 4, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Fort Myers, FL. Born on June 24, 1937 to
George & Loretta (Pfeiffer) James in Long Island City, NY. Virginia was a longtime resident of
Woodside, NY and Douglaston, NY and spent many years summering in Highland Lakes before moving
there in 2004.


Pre-deceased by her brother George, Virginia is survived by her loving husband Patrick. They were
married on June 18, 1960. Beloved mother of Joanne Mellides and her husband Peter, Jeanne Kerrisk and
her husband Edward. Cherished Nanny of Edward & Ryan Kerrisk.


Virginia graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from St. John’s
University where she also worked as a Financial Aid administrator for 20 years and retired in 1998.
Virginia was very active in the Highland Lakes community spending countless hours volunteering for the
Highland Lakes Goodwill Fund’s annual garage sale. She was also a member of the Highland Lakes
Senior club and Red-Hat Society. Virginia was a member of the Warwick Valley Country Club, where
she and Pat played in couples golf and enjoyed the many friends they made there. Virginia was an avid
reader, bridge player and loved a good debate.


The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof
Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ on Sunday June 9, 2019 from 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral mass will be
Monday June 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen’s RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Rd, Warwick, NY
10990 . Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or
