Obituary

James P. Reddy, age 34 of Hamburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019.
Born in Hackensack to James J. and Pamela (Ebeling) Reddy, James grew up in Kinnelon and lived in Highland Lakes, before settling in Hamburg with his wife a few years ago.
A self-employed carpenter and general contractor, James was known for his work ethic. He loved his family and always found energy to play with his children, Natalie and Thomas, and help his wife, regardless of how long his day may have been. He had a good sense of humor, managing to bring a smile to those he met. James fully enjoyed life, and what time he had was for his friends and family.
Predeceased by his grandparents, James J. Reddy, George and Muriel Ebeling, Dolores C. Andrews and Charles Mitchell, James is survived by his loving wife, Celeste (McEwan) Reddy; children Natalie Colette and Thomas William Reddy; mother Pamela Mitchell and her husband John of Kinnelon; father James J. Reddy and wife Kathleen Reddy of Long Valley; sister Sarah Ann Reddy of Cave Junction, OR; stepsiblings Ian Mitchell of East Rockaway, NY, Brendan Mitchell of Queens, NY, John R. Raymond of Landing, Courtney N. Raymond of Hackettstown, and Dana M. Raymond of Long Valley. He is also survived by his grandparents Catherine C. Reddy of Rio Rancho, NM and Margaret Mitchell of Long Island, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation for James will be held on Sunday, July 28th, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Ferguson—Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (One Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ 07462. The funeral service will be on Monday, July 29th, 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial in the Glenwood Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Natalie and Thomas’ education.

Our hearts are broken. You did work for us above and beyond what was needed. Excellent work, for a young guy ,with great work ethic. We got to know you when you were first starting out on your own and then again when you and your wife were having your first baby.. Too young to leave. Our thoughts and prayers go to your family and hope they find comfort in each other. Larry and Fran Marsh

J.P., Although we were many miles apart growing up, you and I were very close from the very beginning. I have several memories of us playing in your back yard catching and smashing fire flies and rolling down the hill. I remember you telling me not to go past the grass line and into the bushes because there was poison ivy. I remember going to Old Town in NM when you came to visit and we would watch the Benny Hill VHS tape that grandma recorded....watching taxi and imitating Andy Kauffman...all those memories had one thing in common, and probably the most memorable thing was laughter. There was never a time that we hung out that the both of us weren’t laughing our little asses off. More recently, when you came to visit me in Vegas, you touched the hearts of my kids, Aiden and Gage. They still talk about wrestling with Jim, playing basketball and your jokes. It’s unfortunate that these words are unable to be said to your face, but I know you can hear them. You left us too early Jim, and you are deeply missed. I know you are and always have been an angel, and I know you are watching over your family. Please keep heaven laughing for us! I love you sooo much and my heart aches to know that you are gone however you will never be forgotten.😭😞

Oh Jimmy, all I can see is your smiling face. I can hear your laugh... we’ve been a blended family for over 20 years. I don’t know what we’re going to do without you. When we were kids, you were non stop with the pranks and your silly antics. As we got older I watched you become more and more like your father. You grew up into a real stand up guy. A family man. A good man. Selfless and hard working yet still lighthearted and always laughing. You were one of a kind. Already your absence is so loud. I will miss you forever 💔

Jim was a very close friend of mine. He was there for me during tough times I'm really sad that his life was cut short. My heart goes out to his family. May Heaven and the Lord embrace him.
