Jack was easily one of the most intelligent people I have met. He always had an additional point of view that I had not considered. In speaking with him I always walked away more informed and with a better perspective on the many subjects that we discussed. Jack was able to speak from a position of knowledge on everything from sports to politics to history to philosophy. We laughed often during our conversations, as he had a way of turning a phrase. We all will miss him greatly as he was a kind and gentle soul that offered much and asked for very little.

I knew Jack when we lived on Haven Avenue. He was a friend to me when I needed a friend. Every Christmas we would run our electric trains together. I also knew his brother Kevin and the rest of the family. His parents and grandmother were among the finest people I ever met.

For the past several years Jack and I met periodically at The Rhode House in Sloatsburg. Each gathering reflected the nostalgia and pride we felt in our old neighborhood and the adventures we shared among the scattered folks. As always, Jack exhibited keen insight, brilliant analysis, original thinking, charitable deductions -all tempered by an intelligent view of reality. I shall miss our conversation, but only in a minor degree compared to the gap he leaves among those whom he loved and who loved him. May he rest in peace and find joy back with Marianne, the love of his life.
