Wantage Twp., NJ: Gudrun Bertha Lehmann(nee Baltz), known as "Cookie" by all her friends (because, really, Gudrun was just too hard to pronounce) unexpectedly passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the ripe old age of 82.

Cookie was born to Hermann and Martha Baltz in Eschwege, Germany. While growing up she met her one and only true love, Udo and followed him to America. They enjoyed a full and happy life together for 60 years.

Cookie worked for over 30 years as the Cafeteria Manager for the Hardyston Elementary School. Besides working Cookie thoroughly enjoyed having elaborate parties with her friends. Her delicious baking skills will be missed by all.

After retirement, Cookie and Udo traveled extensively. In her spare time she crocheted and donated blankets to several causes.

Gudrun is survived by her husband of 60 years, Udo and daughters Ingrid and Heidi and three grandchildren, Karl Richter, Kurt and Sandra Rosengrant and her oldest sister Gotlind of Eschwege, Germany.

Private cremation services by Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, NJ. A Celebration of Gudrun’s Life will be scheduled for a later date. Information and condolences can be found at

My first teaching job was at Hardyston Elementary. A couple of the 5 years there, I taught in the cafeteria. I enjoyed getting to know Cookie. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Cookie was my across the street neighbor growing up. I remember her baking , Who doesn't like goodies as a kid. The feather beds she brought from Germany were so much fun to go jump in . Always a good neighbor. May the family find peace knowing that she made lasting memories. My deepest sorrow.

She was the best neighbor anyone could ever hope for. She made it a neighborhood gathering all to her special occasions with her generosity, caring personality, and her fantastic culinary skills.
