George DeGroot, age 85 of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 at his home.
Born in Paterson to the late Fred and Rebecca (Poultney) DeGroot, George served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked for the Postal Service in Paterson for thirty-five years. George was a dedicated NY Sports Fan; and was a Yankees and Giants fan.
Predeceased by his wife, Marilyn (Rubiski) DeGroot, and his brothers and sisters, George is survived by his daughters, Nancy Ooki and her husband Masao of Haiku, HI, and Linda DeGroot of Franklin; as well as his grandchildren, Jade Ashe, Rebekah Russo, Aiyana, Nami, Maya, and Ilie Ooki; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation for George will be held on Monday, December 23rd, 2019 from 10-11AM at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ 07416. The funeral service will follow at 11AM, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the North Hardyston Cemetery.
