I had Mr. Weasel in 1982. He was by far one of VTHS greatest assets. He taught me to drive when Vernon HS had a 2 week free driving course the summer of 82. One of my all time favorite teachers. Just an all around great guy. He'll missed.💔

I was so surprised and saddened to learn about Dick’s passing. I had not heard that he was sick. I worked with him at VTHS for many years. He was such a gentleman and a kind man. I enjoyed seeing him at St. Judes for mass and social events.
My deepest condolences to his dear family.

My sympathies to the Wetzel family for the loss of your father, grandfather, brother and friend. I graduated in 1984 and played football for Dick in 81, 82 and 83 for Dick and a great, colorful staff. I will always remember his fire in the locker room and on the field, and his willingness to listen to new ideas and try different things to make us a better team. As a result we were pretty, made it to the state finals in 82 and probably had a better in team that went 7-2 in my senior year. I also remember what a good, nice guy he was in school and around town, and Of course the 20 foot high slow softball pitch that he threw in the men’s league during the couple years that I played. My sincerest sympathies. Dan Sweetser.

My condolences go out to Kelly and the whole Wetzel family. I never had Mr. Wetzel as a teacher, but growing up in the same neighborhood as them in Lake Conway, I would remember Mr. Wetzel as being the most pleasant person. Always asking how my parents were doing and I was doing, and talking sports. My condolences again to the whole Wetzel family.
