Dot was always very active in her community. She was on the Hamburg Recreation Commission for many years and also assisted with the Public Assistance Board when it was held inhouse. She also helped with the Board of Health in town and making out all of the paper work for dog licenses in town. You could always count on Dot to be on hand to help out when it came to the town. I am so happy I had the pleasure of volunteering with her. She was certainly a treasure.
One quick story I would like to share with the family was during one Hamburg Day that the Recreation Commission would run, it was 99 degrees outside, not a cloud in the sky. We were all so hot and tired that when everyone left... Dot did what everyone was thinking about doing. She climbed in the big trough we used as a duck pond game for prizes for the children and sat right down. We all were hysterical with laughter! Now that was a kodak moment. Dot I hope you found your comfort in your duck pond in heaven and you found your true love once again. May you rest in peace. You certainly made a difference during your time on earth in the Borough of Hamburg, New Jersey. You will never be forgotten.

Mrs. Kay's was an extraordinary woman rain or shine for decades she was out there crossing the kids everyday. When my 4 were at Hamburg I would walk them up the street for School and Mrs. Kays would happily cross my 4. I will never forget all her kindness she showed my family. She was a town institution.

So very sorry to hear the passing of Mrs. Kays. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for 54 years and always appreciated her kindness. Such a dedicated lady to both her family and her work.
Over the years I would often bump into her at the Hamburg Post Office and she would always ask how my family and I were doing. She was a very caring lady who will be missed by many.
To the Kays Family…
Wishing you strength and peace in this difficult time and may God watch over her and your family. May your memories comfort you and your faith restore you. With sincere sympathy, Jeff & Diane Brown
