Obituary

Lorraine Adele Bell Card, 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and her husband’s art, on January 8, 2021. Born to the late George and Evelyn Bell, Lorraine was a life-long resident of Beemerville. She worked many years for Wantage Township, holding long-term positions with the Zoning Board, Recreation Committee and as the Chief Financial Officer for the township until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, listening to Willie’s Roadhouse, traveling to see covered bridges and tending to her Little Free Library. She is survived by her life-long soulmate of almost 60 years, Wayne R. Card (who will only be found in paint splattered clothes forevermore), daughters Elaine Petit and husband Frank of Wantage, NJ, Amanda Conkling and husband Jon of Ada, MI, her son Duane Card and wife, Linda of Warwick, NY and Danish daughter Annette Dam-Fialla of Odense, Denmark. Lorraine is also survived by her cherished grandchildren who gave her endless joy; Dalton and Durango Petit of Reading, PA, Shaina Card of New York, NY, Evan Card of Salt Lake City, UT and Samantha, Wesley, Cameron, Grayson and Jak Conkling of Ada, MI. Lorraine’s disdain for cucumbers and the color yellow was only rivaled by her deep love for her grandchildren. She was predeceased by sister Susan Bartsch, of Wantage and brother Kenneth Bell, of Frankford with many loved nieces and nephews including Cassandra Jinks of Wantage who gave immeasurable loving care during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research (www.lustgarten.org ), 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D Woodbury, NY 11797. Due to COVID restrictions, private interment will be at the Beemerville Cemetery and will be limited to immediate family members only. Family and friends may pay their respects and visit the graveside on or after Thursday, January 28th, 2021. The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life for Lorraine at a later date; location to be announced.

Wayne and Family
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Lorraine. We will truly miss our neighbor and wonderful friend. Debby and I spoke, and thought, about Lorraine daily while she fought to regain her health. We will cherish the memories of our trips and meals together. Wayne, we know that no words can remove the sorrow, but we hope our support will help.

Lorraine, To say you will be missed would be a understatement. You always were open and loving and enjoyed all the family you have. It was my honor to know you and share 5 of your 9 grandkids with you and Wayne. They were blessed to have a grandmother that was there for them at all times. I enjoyed our times together, when we moved Amanda & Jon to Iowa and watched the kids in Mont Tremblant when they did their Ironman and many more.
You will be remembered always. May God Bless!
