Obituary for John Joseph Clifford
Astatula, FL: John Joseph Clifford, 84 years old, passed away peacefully at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Born to John and Catherine Clifford in The Bronx, NY, he had lived in The Bronx and then Fair Lawn, NJ, then Vernon Twp., NJ, Hamburg, NJ before moving to Astatula, FL in 2017.
John attended John Jay College and then worked as a Policeman for the New York Police Department in The Bronx, retiring in 1979, he then worked for the Engineering Department at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ for many years. John served with the United States Army National Guard for several years in New York City and took great joy in baseball, football, bowling and stock trading.
John is predeceased by his wife, Anna M. Clifford(2007) and a grandson, Adam Coppola(2012) and is the devoted father of Bernadette M. Coppola of The Villages, FL, Catherine Schultz of Astatula, FL, Jeanne Clifford of West Milford, NJ, John E. Clifford of Astatula, FL and Marie Lussier and her husband, Denis of Sparta, NJ. Loving grandfather of Christopher Schultz, Nick Schultz and his wife, Kailyn, Gavin Coppola, Brianna Tramutolo and Maggie Schultz. Cherished great grandfather of James Coppola.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin, NJ on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM. State Regulations have the church limiting attendees to 50 people, social distancing and face coverings are required. Interment to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be greatly appreciated.
