Private Condolence

My condolences to those who knew and loved Peter. He was a daily presence in my life for 10 years and is an integral part of my childhood. I remember being 5 and Peter letting me “drive” his van down the back PA roads on our way home from fishing. Peter took me golfing around that time too and I am grateful for the exposure to a sport I never would have considered. Peter took me to the batting cages and threw the ball with me. My favorite memories are of canoeing and camping alongside the Delaware Water gap and the get togethers at the Storms’ house playing horseshoes and just running around with my other ‘cousins’. Thank you for that.

Peter saw the light of a near death experience when he courageously fought for his life from a hunting accident shotgun wound as a teenager. He had more life to live and did exactly that, sometimes with a mischievous smile and often a good laugh. Some of my memories include camping along the Delaware and canoeing down that river with Lia and Eric. He taught us how to wrap up potatoes and corn on the cob in aluminum foil and cook them on the campfire. He showed us how to find some peace as we fished at Lake Rutherford. Pete taught me cooking slow and low is the key for delicious food, to this day I use his beef stew and chicken soup recipes. Although he did often attend church with me, his favorite Sunday activity was either watching golf or playing it. He always turned to the sports page first when he picked up the newspaper. I learned to associate cleanliness with the smell of Pine Sol, thanks to training from his mom we fondly called “Queenie”. His tender connection to young children and animals is what first attracted me to Peter and I am forever grateful for our shared love of his husky, Smokey. Although the Eagles band was his favorite during our dating time, he often encouraged us to sing Stevie Nicks song, “Leather and Lace” together. Alas, my true reply was “Different Drum” by Linda Ronstadt.
Pete is now united back into our Lord’s loving light which he learned was waiting for him so long ago.
A memorial donation has been made to Father John’s Animal Shelter in Lafayette, NJ.

Thinking of you all at this very sad time with the loss of Pete, a great cousin that will be missed so dearly.
Smiling as I write this, remembering the memories that we have of when we visted Florida in 1990 with Uncle Jimmy eating the food that Pete would cook for us. He truly was an amazing chef, memories that we will have forever.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time, may god bless you all.
Love from Alyson, Rick, Dan & Josh XX
