Obituary for Ellen M Lynch (Roche)

Hardyston Twp., NJ: Ellen M. Lynch passed away at the home she lovingly designed and built in Hardyston, NJ on April 12, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She was 81. Ellen was born in Paterson, NJ, on January 7, 1940. She lived most of her life in Sussex County making a loving home for her daughter for many years in Ogdensburg, NJ before moving to Hardyston.

Ellen attended Franklin High School. She was a strong and devoted single mom for many years. She loved cooking gourmet meals. Growing up it was not out of the question that a weeknight dinner might be escargot or duck a l'orange, recipes she learned from the Swiss chef at the old Valley View Lodge in Sparta where she worked as a waitress in one of her many “second jobs”. Ellen’s main profession was a Quality Control Inspector at Accurate Forming in Hamburg, NJ, and later at Howmet Aerospace in Dover, where she worked for 25 years. Besides cooking, Ellen loved gardening, her Welsh Terriers, and all-day shopping and lunch with her daughter and granddaughter. She was a devoted Nana that would sit on the floor and play Barbies all day if that is what her granddaughter wanted.

Besides her parents, Walter and Margaret Roche, Ellen was predeceased by her brother, Robert Roche. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Brad Lynch, daughter and granddaughter Christine and Jessica Berghofer of Sparta, NJ. Also surviving is her sister, Dorothy Decker of Hamburg, NJ.

A “Walk Through” visitation will be at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ on Thursday April 15, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM. Due to government restrictions, a limit of 100 people will be allowed in the funeral home at any one time and face coverings are required by all who enter. Funeral Service will take place on Friday April 16th at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Ellen’s name to the Karen Ann Quinlan Memorial Foundation, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860 or Alzheimer’s New Jersey www.alznj.org.
