Obituary for Patricia Ann Angus (Rooney)
VERNON TWP., NJ: Patricia Ann Angus (née Rooney), 83 years old, peacefully entered into eternal life after a short illness at Kindred Hospital, Dover, NJ on Thursday, April 29,2021 with her loving husband at her bedside. Born to John T. and Grace E. Rooney in East Orange,NJ. She raised her family in Rockaway Borough, NJ before moving to Vernon Twp., NJ in 1976.
Patricia was dedicated to her family. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, a nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a former parishioner, CCD teacher and member of the Rosary Society at St. Stanislaus Church in Pine Island, NY. She recently became a parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Hamburg, NJ. She was a member of the Sussex YMCA, active in the YSWIM program which provides exercise opportunities for people that have difficulty exercising on dry land. An avid reader, she enjoyed British Mysteries both in print and on TV. Over the years Patricia was an amateur ornithologist, bird bander and rehabbed injured birds and animals. She was also very active in genealogy, discovering her family’s history.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents and an infant daughter, Jennifer Angus(1970) and was the beloved wife for 59 years of Richard Angus of Vernon Twp.,NJ. Devoted mother of Scott J. Angus and his wife, Judy of Mt Bethel Twp., PA, Mark W. Angus and his wife, Lynn of Watervliet, NY, Kathleen M. Harriott and her husband, Michael of Port Charlotte, FL and Matthew J. Angus of Vernon Twp.,NJ. Cherished by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:30AM at St. Jude the Apostle RC Church, Hamburg, NJ. Cremation under the direction of Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon, NJ is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Patricia’s name to Several Sources Shelter, P.O. Box 157, Ramsey, NJ 07446 or to St. Bonaventure Indian Mission and School, 25 Navarre Boulevard W, Thoreau, NM 87323 would be greatly appreciated.
