Wantage Twp., NJ: John Henry Mitchell, 93, passed away peacefully at Bentley Assisted Living in Branchville, NJ on Friday, June 11, 2021. Born to John and Amelia Mitchell in Englewood, NJ, he lived in Norwood, NJ before moving to Wantage Twp., NJ in 1993. He and his family vacationed in Lake Wallkill since 1929.
John received his BA in Business from Rutgers University and served with the United States Navy during World War II. He then owned and operated Dynatrol, Inc. in North Bergen, NJ before retiring in 1998. John had an affinity for aviation history and was a doting grandfather.
John is predeceased by his wife, Katherine Mitchell (2017) and a brother, Robert Mitchell (2005). John is the devoted father of John Mitchell of Sussex, NJ, Steve Mitchell and his wife, Maryanne of Vernon Twp., NJ, Dave Mitchell and his wife, Patty of Wantage Twp., NJ and Jim Mitchell and his wife, Dina of Vernon Twp., NJ. Loving grandfather of MaryKatherine, Steven, Timothy, Eileen, David, Nicole and Jessica. Great grandfather of Odin. Brother in law of Dorothy Mitchell and Frank Hochreiter and his wife, Carol.
The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Vernon Twp., NJ.
