Obituary for Mary I. DePue

Mary Iris DePue, age 91 of Franklin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27th, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Franklin to the late James L. and Florence M. (Moyse) DePue, Mary was a lifelong resident. Due to an illness in her family, immediately after high school, Mary began working at Selective Insurance as a Policy Typist so that she could support her parents and siblings. Mary worked for Selective Insurance for forty-seven years, retiring as an Executive secretary to the president.

An ever-present rock of strength and support for so many, Mary never complained or had an unkind word for anyone. Instead, she loved unconditionally and saw the best in all of us.

Mary loved cooking for her family, knitting and crocheting, giving gifts to others and all the many family gatherings over the years. She was a most amazing and loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

We were all blessed to have had Mary in our lives.

Predeceased by her parents; her infant brother William and brother Lorin DePue; sisters Lila Schoenke and Deanna DePue; and brothers in law John Hlavka and Donald Pellington, Mary is survived by her son, James DePue and his wife Patricia of Hardyston; grandsons Jonathan DePue and wife Peggy and Christopher DePue and his fiancé Maggie Fatsis; great-grandchildren Devan, Wrenna, Myles, and Nina DePue; as well as her sisters Margaret Hlavka, Dale Wendt and husband Henry, Karen Predmore and husband Kenneth, and Florence Pellington; as well as her brother in law Franklin Schoenke and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Mary are private and under the direction of the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ 07416. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.fjohnramseyfuneralhome.com
