Obituary for James Murray Douglas

James Murray Douglas, age 73, passed away on Sunday, December 19th leaving behind the love of his life, soulmate and best friend Sherrie, his son Alex, who’s humor and cheerful spirit is a reflection of Jim’s heart and soul, Chandler, a father to Raelynn Grace and husband to Katie who embodies his father’s kindhearted essence, his stepson Scott who’s hard work and love of family comes from the value’s he learned from Jim, Scott’s wife Jennifer and their 4 children Hannah, Tori, Megan and Logan.

Jim was born in Irvington, NJ in 1948 to James and Eleanor Douglas. He grew up with his sister Dorene in a town where his love of the 1950’s and learning magic tricks was inspired. Jim’s impeccable memory of ‘Old Hollywood’ trivia and wild times with his friends Bob Smith, Bob Grumka and brother-in-law Matthew Cap, made everyone want to be around him. The way his eyes lit up or the sound of his laugh as he chuckled through retelling a story was one of his many great attributes.

He also leaves behind his sister Dorene who will love her brother forever and Matthew Cap who thought of Jim not only as a brother-in-law but as a best friend, Cristina, her daughters Lily and Julia, Doug and Lauren who’s entire lives were enriched by his love. Their Uncle Jim was pure ‘magic.'

James Murray Douglas is so loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was a U.S. Air Force Military Veteran where he was stationed at K.I. Sawyer Air Force base in Michigan. He loves the United States and has a deep appreciation and respect for all who serve our country.
