Obituary for Muriel May Card (Fountaine)

Wantage Twp., NJ: Muriel M. Card passed away at home after a long heroic fight with cancer. Born in Richford Vermont on April 21st 1945, she was the daughter of Robert and Wayvana (Griffiths) Fountaine of Enosberg Falls Vermont. The family relocated to Sussex NJ in 1950.

Muriel graduated Sussex High School, Sussex NJ in 1963. She married John M. Card of Wantage upon completion of his military service, in 1967. Muriel was employed by Par Gas Incorporated in Hamburg NJ. After which Muriel spent 30 years of her life doing the financial books of Beemerville Garage, the family owned business. Muriel was a proud homemaker, she enjoyed trips back to Vermont and kepping up with family events. She was a loving mother of two sons who growing up she enjoyed doing many educational and entertaining things with. Muriel was above all was a doting Grandmother to her four Grandchildren

Muriel is survived by her Mother who is 98, her husband of 54 years, two Sons Jon of Fredericksburg Va and his Wife Stacey (Dale) and James of Yorktown Va. and his wife Erin (Slack). She is also survived by four Grandchildren, Aidan, Lillian, Madison and John and her Sister Wanda Fountaine of Newton NJ who was at her side throughout Muriel’s final weeks. She is predeceased by her Father.

Services under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, NJ will be a Memorial Mass at St Monica’s RC Church, Sussex, NJ on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Graveside funeral services will be held at a later date at Beemerville Cemetery, Wantage Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton NJ 07860, (www.Karenannquinlanhospice.org/donate-support/), whose services were greatly appreciated.
