Obituary for Donald P. Covert
Donald P. Covert, age 63, of Hardyston, passed away on Sunday, April 24th, 2022 at the Newton Medical Center.
Born in West Orange, Don grew up there before moving to Ogdensburg in the 80’s. He settled in Hardyston in 2008. Don owned and operated his own printing business, D&M Printing, in West Orange. Active in his community, Don served on both the Hardyston and Ogdensburg Fire Departments for over thirty years. Don had a passion for cooking. He was affectionately known as the “kitchen commander” by his fellow firemen. He also was very proud of his many years cooking for Donaldson’s Farm. Don loved his family and very much enjoyed being a “Pop Pop” to his beloved grandchildren.
Predeceased by his father, Charles Covert; and brother, David Covert, Don is survived by his wife, Denise (Larkin) Covert; sons Joseph Covert and his fiancé Erica Tomzick, of Wantage, and Robert Covert and his fiancé Jennifer Hopler, of Newton; daughter, Lauren Covert and her significant other, Thomas Wiltshire, of Oak Ridge; six grandchildren Kayley, Anthony, Carley, Macey, Wyatt, and Tessa; and his sisters, Carolyn Neier and Cynthia Simoes.
Visitation for Don will be held on Friday, April 29th, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-8:30PM. A firemen’s service will begin at 8:30PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NJ Firemen’s Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005. Online condolences may be offered through www.fjohnramseyfuneralhome.com
