Obituary for Mary R. Fahy

Mary R. Fahy, age 86 of Vernon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7th, 2022, with her loving family by her side.

Born in New York, NY, to the late James and Anne (McMahon) Cassidy, Mary moved from NYC to Wayne, then Ringwood,where she raised her seven children; her pride, her joy, her life.

Parishioner of St. Catherine of Bologna RC Church, involved in PTA and any and all organizations that came with raising seven active children. Mary never missed a football game, cheerleading competition, or soccer game.

Mary settled in Sussex County in the 1990's to be near her children and grandchildren. A dedicated volunteer, she contributed countless hours to St. Clare's Hospital, Sussex, Meals on Wheels, and the Sussex Food Pantry, to name a few. She was a parishioner at St. Monica's RC Church in Sussex before moving to Vernon and joining St. Francis de Sales RC Church ten years ago.

In Mary's leisure time, she enjoyed quilting, puzzles, and long walks on the beach at the Jersey Shore and NSB, Florida collecting shells. Mary's sense of humor and caring nature for others will be missed most of all.

Predeceased by her parents; son, Francis “Buddy” Fahy; granddaughter Hailey Fahy; and brothers Robert and James Cassidy, Mary is survived by her children, Mary Gordon and her husband Bruce of Vernon, Anne Figliuolo and husband Robert of Ringwood, Kathleen Armona and husband Richard of Florida, Rosella Wellman and husband Duane of North Carolina, Bridget Burns and husband Brett of Vernon, and Michael Fahy and wife Julie of North Carolina. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mary will be held on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 from 3-7PM at the Ferguson—Vernon Funeral Home, (One Vanderhoof Court for GPS) 241 Route 94, Vernon, NJ 07462. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, July 13th, 10AM at the St. Francis de Sales RC Church in Vernon. Burial in the Glenwood Cemetery to follow.
