Obituary for Herbert C. Sigl

Herbert C. “Herb” Sigl passed away on Tuesday September 20, 2022. Herb was born in Munich, Germany, the only child and predeceased by his parents Josef and Karolina Sigl. Herb is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Barbara, three daughters, Diane Sigl, Joanne Sigl and husband John, Caroline Walker and husband Chris, four grandchildren, Bryan, Christine and husband Jose, Scott and Corinne and partner Tom and two great grandchildren, Liam and Luna and several nieces and nephews.
He immigrated to America with his parents at age 15 after World War II. From the moment he came to this country he was a true American. He believed in this country and what it stood for. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gun collector and craftsman. Herb could fix anything you put in front of him and was often in his shop tinkering with some sort of project.
Above all else Herb was a family man. He took great pride in the three strong daughters he raised with his wife Barbara. He was tough on them as they grew but instilled his cultural values, morals and beliefs. He taught them to work for what they wanted and that they could accomplish anything they set their mind to. He carried this on to his four grandchildren as well. Most weekends Herb would be at a farm stand, a flea market or a gun show with one or more of his grandchildren in tow. His grandchildren brought him so much joy and will find it hard to think of their “Pop-Pop” without a smile. What may have made Herb shine the brightest were his two great-grandchildren. He was so grateful to have lived long enough to watch his family to continue to grow. Those who had the honor of knowing him would agree that Herb expressed himself loudly but had a gentle soul. He was passionate about what he believed in and who he loved. He loved with no conditions and was quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in his life.
Herb passed away surrounded by four generations of family. He left this world knowing that he had a life well lived. He raised a humble family who loves one another unconditionally and will continue to protect and honor his legacy for generations to come.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ 07416. Visitation will be from 1pm – 4pm with a service to follow thereafter. The family kindly asks that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Herb’s honor.
