Loretta Dunn was called Home January 19, 2023 at the age of 97. Loretta was born on November 21, 1925 in Wantage NJ. She resided in Beemerville for most of her life. She and her husband, Ted, owned and operated Ted Dunn, Inc. and Dunn’s Bus Service. Ted passed away in 1982 and Loretta continued with the business until 2008 when she “retired”.

She was a member of the Beemerville Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and served as an Elder and Deacon, a member of the Beemerville Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Sussex County School Bus Association, the National School Bus Association, the Frankford Seniors, and the Red Hat Society.

Loretta loved to bake, garden, dance and roller skate. She was known as the “Cookie Queen”. You never left her home without a bag of cookies. Her greatest love was for her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world! Sunday afternoon family and extended family picnics were the highlight of her week!

She spent the last three years at Bristol Glen. She made many friends and was loved by all. She had the very best care and her family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all of her caregivers.

Loretta was predeceased by her parents Ralph and Elizabeth (Cosh) Space, her husband Ted Dunn, (1982), her grandson, Brian Dunn (1996), her sons in-law, Orvil Jackson (2018), Chris VanderGroef (2021). She was also predeceased by her dear brother, Fred Space (2021).

She is survived by her daughters Jean Ann Jaeger and Sally VanderGroef. Loretta has a sister, Edna Niebanck of Austin Tx. They enjoyed talking to each other every day.

A celebration of life will be held 11 am, Friday January 27, 2023 at the Beemerville Presbyterian Church in the village of Beemerville. A luncheon will follow at the Beemerville Fire Hall.
