Raymond H. Hatke, peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at his home in Vernon, NJ, at the age of 91.
Born and raised in Weehawken, NJ to the late Fred and Elsie (Schutz) Hatke. He had also lived in Bogota and Sparta NJ, before settling down, seven years ago, in Vernon, NJ. Raymond had worked for New York Telephone for 25 years, retiring from Verizon in New York City as a manager in 1990. Raymond could not stay retired for long and started consulting for Belcor in Morristown, NJ for a few years, and then to keep him busy, he started his own small business, I Fix It For You.
Active in his community, Raymond was Vice President of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Council, Vice President and President of the Hardyston Senior Club for over fourteen years, member of the Vernon Leisure Club, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years. He was always a devoted family man, proudly attending all of his children & grandchildren’s sporting events, and school functions whenever possible, and loved Sunday Night Bowling League with his sons.
Predeceased by his parents and brothers Bernie and Fred, he is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Kleinke) Hatke, of almost 61 years; children Gail Feeley and her husband Rick, Dorel Jones and her husband Chris, Carl Hatke and his wife Jess, Richard Hatke; and grandchildren Diana and James Feeley, Jacob and Marcus Jones, and Kyler, Cassy, and Kenzie Hatke; as well as great-grandchildren Dolly Mackie and Robbie Derieux; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Raymond will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, from 11am-3pm at the Ferguson - Vernon Funeral Home (One Vanderhoof Court for GPS), 241 Route 94, Vernon, NJ 07462. A service provided by the Hardyston Senior Club will be at 12pm, as well as a memorial funeral service which will begin at 2:30pm, at the funeral home.
