Obituary for Myrna D. Creary
CREARY, MYRNA D. [Dolly], (née EVANS) of Askenish, Hanover, Jamaica, Teaneck, NJ and recently of Vernon, NJ passed on March 1, 2023, with her son Gary and daughter Sophia by her side.
Born in Askenish, Jamaica, West Indies to the late Augustus Lucas and Adiline Victoria (née Young) Evans, Myrna passed her childhood there and, after marrying in 1966, lived in Kingston before coming to the United States of America in the 1980’s. Myrna and her two children lived in Teaneck, NJ, for over thirty-five years before permanently settling in Vernon, NJ, this past February.
Myrna loved children, especially babies: for over thirty years, she was the leader of the Cradle Roll Sabbath School and Children’s Choir at Community Seventh Day Adventist Church of Englewood, NJ. Myrna’s love and passion for babies led her to become a certified Doula/Baby nurse for the Jewish community in Teaneck and the Tri-State area. She also enjoyed reading biographies and historical memoirs, discussing current and past politics. She loved animals and nature, and her latest pleasure was feeding the birds that came knocking at her bedroom window.
Myrna was predeceased by her brothers Hugh “Clive” Evans and Trevor Evans. She is survived by her two loving children, Gary and Sophia Creary, Her grandchildren Kevaun, Kaitlyn, and Kristina Creary; brothers Derrick and Errol “Bas” Evans; and sister, Brenda Evans-Streete; nieces and nephews. She is also survived by (H) Aubrey “Bobby” Creary and sister-in-law Jean D’Costa.
A Memorial Service for Myrna will be held on Sunday, March 26th, 2023, from 1pm - 4pm at the First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 405 Englewood Avenue, Teaneck, NJ 07666.
