Obituary for William G. Mills Jr.
William G. Mills, Jr., age 72 of Franklin, formerly of Totowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28th, 2023, at the Newton Medical Center.
Born in Hackensack to the late William G. and Pauline (Gorzynski) Mills, William grew up in Totowa. After graduating from Passaic Valley High School in 1969, William attended Stevens Institute of Technology and then began his vast and wide-ranging working life. Prior to retirement, William had been a stationary engineer and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 68. He had previously helped run the speedways at New Egypt and Pine Brook.
Active in his community, William was a volunteer with the NJ State Fair and Sussex County Farm and Horse Show and with the Creative Arts for Home and Hobby. He had also been a member and past governor with the Loyal Order of Moose Lodi Lodge #1971. He also enjoyed bowling, football (Steelers, Jets, and Giants), and trips to Atlantic City, especially playing Black Jack.
Predeceased by his parents, William is survived by his loving wife, Carole (Schneider) Mills; sisters Helen M. DeRosa and her husband, Rocco, and Dorothea “Thea” Mills; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2nd, 2023 from 4-8PM at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, (Sussex County), NJ 07416. Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 3rd, 9:30AM, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wallkill Valley First Aid Squad, 4 Cork Hill Road, Franklin, NJ 07416.
