Owen C. Martin, age 78 of Highland Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at the St. Anthony’s Hospital in Warwick, NY.
Born in Passaic to the late Lester and Amelia (Eaton) Martin, Owen grew up in Saddle Brook and raised his own family in Highland Lakes. He served his country honorably in the US Army. Following his service in Vietnam, he graduated from the Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT). He then began his long career, initially with Holley and Johnson Architects in Wyckoff and later independently. Even well into his career, Owen embraced technology and was among the first to learn and adapt to CAD.
Owen designed many complex corporate projects and was most proud of his significant work on the Pequest Trout Hatchery in Oxford NJ. In retirement, Owen contributed to the arch design at the Northern NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery. He also co-owned Architectural Toys. Owen was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fly fishing with family and always a car buff. He will be missed for his sense of humor, among many other great qualities.
Predeceased by his parents, Owen is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois (Ehrenberg) Martin; son Eric and his wife, Katie Martin; daughter Nancy L. Martin; and grandchildren Evan, Noah, Aubree, and Emma Martin; as well as his beloved grand-dog, Miso.
